YUPI THE POLAR BEAR OF MORELIA´S ZOO

This is the beautiful and funny polar bear of Morelia´s Zoo.

Yupi and Zuku Morelia´s Zoo Polar Bears

In Morelia´s Zoo we have a polar bear named Yupi. It is a female. She is 17 years old.Yupi comes from Alaska. She is very happy. They give her food one time each day and they leaved some food in her house so she can eat some in the night. They give Yupi fish, bread and honey. The veterinarian checks her everyday. They clean her house everyday. Two persons take care of Yupi.

She had a partner named Zuku, but he died 4 years ago when he was 13 years old. He died because some people wasn´t responsible so they throw him bags of cotton candies, balloons and balls.

When Zuku died they found 2 kilograms of plastic in his stomach.

SO PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS AND DON´T THROW THE GARBAGE IN THE HABITAT OF THE ANIMALS.

The Polar Bear of Berlin named Knut

     

Knut appeared on the magazine " VANITYFAIR "

Some characteristics are that they have long paws so they can swim and walk long distances. The males have  a weight of 400 to 500 kilograms and the females have a weight from 200 to 300 kilograms. The males have a lenght of 2,5 meters and the females of 2 meters. Their tail have a lenght from 8 to 13 centimeters.

They are carnivors.

Reproduction: Viviparous. Time of pregnancy 240 to 270 days. They have 1 to 2 babies each time.

Habits: During the day.

They live 34 years.

There are only 20,000 polar bears in the world and they are in danger of extintion.

They live in Rusia, Alaska, Greenland, Norway, Artic, and polar zone. 

The polar bears are in endangerment because of the global warming of the earth that affects their cosystem, and when the areas of hunting of the polar bears melt they don´t keep the enough food to survive.

Another cause of endangerment is the pollution of their habitat that destroys their environment and pollutes the water so they die. 

Also the hunting of polar bears is another reason of why they are in endangerment.

They can be extinct if we don´t make something in 75 years.

We can help the endangered species using products that don´t destroy the layer of ozone, don´t polluting our environment, telling the people not do things that destroy the earth and we can help don´t hunting this beautiful animals tha live in our planet.

In the zoo of Morelia we have a female bear named Yupi.
